Nancy O'Dell began her broadcast career as an anchor and reporter at WPDE-TV located in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Later, she was an anchor for morning news for WCBD TV and was an investigative reporter. O'Dell's reportage in Charleston on police leniency towards DUI cases resulted in an investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division investigating the instances. Ms. O'Dell was awarded her Best Report of the Award from the Associated Press for South Carolina's media. Following her work in Charleston O'Dell served as anchor, co-anchor, and investigative reporter for NBC's Miami station WTVJ-TV before joining Access Hollywood as a weekend anchor and a weekday reporter. O'Dell, in addition to anchoring the main show for Access Hollywood, also appears on NBC News Today as well Dateline NBC. She was a reporter for events like The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, and The Golden Globe Awards. In addition to co-hosting Pre-ShowArrivals for The Emmys & The Golden Globes. In addition, she hosted for the Miss USA pageant and the Miss Universe pageant.
